Which barcode format should I use?
Use EAN-13 for retail products sold through stores that scan a 13-digit code. Use Code128 for internal SKUs, warehouse and shipping labels because it encodes any alphanumeric value. The tool supports both.
Can I print these barcodes on labels?
Yes. Download as SVG for crisp printing at any label size, or PNG for quick use. Scanners read the generated barcodes as long as you print them large enough and with good contrast.
Do I need to buy a barcode number?
For internal stock tracking you can use any SKU with Code128 for free. If you sell through large retailers that require globally-unique GTINs, you’ll need to buy EAN numbers from GS1 India, then encode them here.
